My computer is fixed! although it is currently emitting a very annoying high pitched tone that I would like to stop.
I graduated high school wednesday (GO ME!) and acquired a new job Thursday with stupid hours and sweaty work but cool people.
things I will do tomorrow: lay at the pool. read. repeat.
So on tumblr sometimes and several times recently irl I’ve heard mumblings from some feminist pals that are really getting on my nerves regarding everyone’s favorite thing, lady bits. more specifically, the hair that may or may not be on them. Some seem to feel that shaving your pussy is a step firmly into the patriarchy’s clutches.
listen: shaving your pussy is not some inherently anti-feminist act. I don’t know anyone who does it to make themselves look like a little girl again, so stop saying that. It’s bullshit and an attempt to shame other girls. stop trying to police how other people like their bodies. if you like having pubic hair, by all means, keep it. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you shouldn’t have it or that it’s unfeminine to have it- that’s the patriarchy at work. if you don’t, shave it (better yet, wax it. way easier). either way, do what you want because it’s a personal fucking preference, not a law of ladydom that says your pussy has to look a certain way or you aren’t a good enough feminist. that’s just such utter bullshit. if your boyfriend tells you he likes you one way or another? It’s none of his damn business either unless you feel like catering to him out of the goodness of your little heart. If you feel sexy smooth, stay smooth. If bush makes you hot, have a bush. Somewhere in the middle? Rad, rock it. Just stop trying to tell other girls what to rock. Do whatever turns you on, is easy, feels the best, etc. Just do your thing, don’t feel obligated to be one way or another, and leave the body policing out of it.

TOGA THURSDAY WOOOO
today was delightful:
The more drone strikes I read about, the less I feel comfortable supporting Obama. We’ve moved into Yemen now as well, and apparently it’s acceptable practice for the POTUS to order hits on people without knowing their identities. If we even think it might be an al-Queda member, they’re fair game. This is so incredibly wrong and demeaning both to the country and to the office of POTUS. I’ll take Obama over Romney, certainly, but I have some major hang ups about how he interprets his office.
prom was this weekend and it was delightful. I went with my friend Patty, who can shuffle like no one’s business. With me was the lovely Caela, and pretty much all of the rest of our friends bundled into one big group.
we ate and danced and got a little turned around downtown because we were too busy jamming to watch the throne (and also because I am a poor navigator). the after party was a step up from our norm and the night was spent flitting in and out of a huge tent we pitched in a friend’s yard. a little bit of hedonism now and then is good for the soul.
After spending all day talking to professors and sitting in on classes, deposits have paid and papers have been signed:
Officially a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket and pretty excited about it.
I’ll be doing Public Policy and either pursuing a 5 year masters or a dual degree in International Relations.
I liked the classes a lot and there’s a lot of opportunity to study/work/intern abroad and they offer a specialty in ethics and philosophy which is pretty much exactly what I want.
It wasn’t my first choice but it’s one hell of a plan b.
So I’m pretty much down to a choice between Georgia Tech and UGA for next year unless the other colleges I got into want to match a free ride.
I can’t seem to get any sort of reliable answer or information on whether GT or UGA has a better INTA program so if anyone has anything to contribute about that, please share before I lose my damn mind.
Never seen the word rejected so many times in my life.
Georgia Tech is looking like the move, which is not what I wanted but seems to be my lot. A free four years and then time to spin the wheel again at grad school, can’t be that bad.
So it goes.
The college acceptances I care most about come out Thursday.
I really don’t want to be at home clicking refresh, if for no other reason than to reaffirm that my personal worth has incredibly little to do with where I get into college.
I’m thinking I’m going to get all dressed up and go to Emory and make Rhett go frolic with me or something. Really, I just need to happen upon a fancy party and dance my stress away.
